The Hispanic World

The Hispanic, or Spanish-speaking world is a very hetegoreneous set of countries which were once part of the Spanish empire and are now primarily Spanish-speaking.

The Hispanic world consists of Spain, itself a heterogeneous country with 3 minority languages, 20 nation states in the Americas plus Puerto Rico, and some would also add two small former colonies in Africa where Spanish is the official language.

Below you can see a list of the Spanish speaking countries

Mestizo: mixed white (European) and Amerindian ancestry
Amerindian: indigenous people of the Americans (equivalent to American Indian in US)
Mulatto: mixed white (European) and African
