SSC Gradekeeper: Student reports on the Web

Options

If you would like to upload your progress reports to the Web for students to use there are a number of options, all of which require some computer savvy, though not too much. (Read here on the legality of online grades.)

Access to individual reports by students always requires entering the student ID. The student will then enter that ID to retrieve his/her page. If you don't think that is private enough, you can always enter a different number in the student ID cell (kind of like a password) and then let the student know what it is. Gradekeeper can enter random numbers in the ID field for each student. (FAQ entry.)

  1. Posting grades to your own website

If you have access to your own website to which you can upload files using an FTP program, then this may be the easiest way for you. The detailed information is on page 38 of the Gradekeeper Users Guide (PDF).

You can export your grades website from the File menu, which then you would have to upload to your site using an FTP program. For extra privacy it is suggested that you do not export student names when you export these web pages, just the ID number, preferably a random one, not the student's school ID number.

If you wish to have a Web-savvy fellow faculty member help you post your scores online or to do it for you, contact Jon Aske. It may be possible.

  2. Posting grades to different online services that Gradekeeper partners with:

    Edline (p. 43), School Center (p. 46), SchoolFusion (p. 47), SchoolSpeak (p. 44), TeacherWeb® (p. 48), and The Homework Site (p. 49)

  3. Online Grades

This is an option which would use SSC web resources (p. 45). The College is currently exploring installing this software, but it is not yet available.
